Register your company with the CQC

Registering an organization with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) is an important process for health and social care providers in England. We take the stress away from what you need to to. Here is a breakdown of what happens

1. Check If You Need to Register

  • We determine if your service requires CQC registration. Most healthcare services, including care homes, hospitals, clinics, and community care services, must be registered. You can find specific details on the CQC website.

2. Understand the Registration Requirements

  • We look at the five key areas of assessment: Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive, and Well-led. We will need detailed information from you regarding Well-led.

3. Prepare the Necessary Information

We gather specific information and documentation, including:

  • Details of your service: Type of service, location, and the type of care provided.

  • People in charge: Information about registered managers and directors.

  • Policies and Procedures: Health and safety policies, safeguarding policies, and procedures for infection prevention and control.

  • Evidence of qualifications and training for staff members.

4. Complete the Application Form

  • We access the CQC online application portal and complete the registration form. You will need to create an account to proceed.

  • Provide all required details, including service type, location, and management structure.

5. Prepare for the Fit and Proper Persons Test

  • Ensure that individuals in key positions (such as the registered manager) meet the CQC's Fit and Proper Persons Test, which assesses their suitability based on qualifications, experience, and conduct.

6. You will need to Pay the Registration Fee

  • The registration process incurs a fee, which varies depending on the type of service. Check the CQC website for the most current fee structure.

  • Payment can typically be made online during the application process.

7. Submit Your Application

  • Once we have completed the form and gathered all necessary documentation, you will need to review the information to check if anything needs amending or adding and then submit your application through the online portal.

8. Await CQC Assessment

  • After submission, the CQC will review your application. They may contact you for additional information and may request a pre-registration inspection of your service.

  • Be prepared to demonstrate compliance with the CQC standards.

9. Receive Your Decision

  • Once the assessment is complete, you will receive a decision regarding your registration.

  • If your application is successful, you will receive a registration certificate. If not, the CQC will provide reasons for their decision, allowing you to address any issues before reapplying.

10. Stay Compliant

  • After registration, ensure ongoing compliance with CQC regulations and standards. Regularly review and update your policies and practices based on CQC guidance and ongoing assessments.
